Course topics include an introduction to: the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Apocrypha, the Pseudepigrapha, Apocalyptic Literature, Rabbinic Literature, the writings of the Early Church Fathers, the works of Josephus and Philo, the formation of the biblical canon, and more.

The original setting, cultural context and linguistic background will be highlighted throughout the course. Each of the major themes of Romans will be discussed, including: the power of the gospel, righteousness and justification through faith, salvation for all, the purpose of the Law, life in the Spirit and God’s eternal purposes for the people Israel.
