Paul & His Letters: The Early Years

This course will examine the life and ministry of the apostle Paul and his earliest New Testament letters: The Book of Galatians, I and II Thessalonians, and I Corinthians. In addition to a detailed treatment of each selected letter, class discussions will also emphasize the language, style and form of Paul’s letters, the cultural and religious make-up of each congregation, and the emphasis of Paul’s Jewish training on his letters.

Sundays, 9:45–10:45am, beginning September 13

The Gospel of John: The Book of Signs

This course explores the first twelve chapters of John’s gospel in its historical, cultural and religious setting. Special emphasis will be given to the purpose of John’s gospel, Jesus’ deity and unique relationship with the Father, and his messianic signs.

Mondays, 6-7:30pm, beginning September 14

Discovering the Hebrew Bible

This Wednesday Evening Teaching series will provide a general survey of the 39 books of the Hebrew Bible, commonly referred to as the Old Testament in Christianity, but known as the Tanakh in Judaism.  At over 1500 pages in most English translations, reading and studying the Hebrew Bible can be quite intimidating. This teaching series will break down each of the major divisions of the Hebrew Bible, The Torah (Law), The Hebrew Prophets, and The Writings, helping to provide a better understanding of the overall structure, themes and central message of the Hebrew Bible.

Wednesdays in the Main Auditorium, 7-8:30pm, beginning September 30
